FENERBAHCE DENIES TRANSFER RUMOUR

Turkish football giants, Fenerbahce has come out to deny a transfer rumour that would see them sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

A Turkish sports newspaper Fanatikrecently ran the sensational headline which had them claiming that the club was already on the verge of securing a deal for Ibrahimovic in a transfer that would be regarded as a historic one.

According to the reports, the Yellow Canaries are expected to spend no less than £8.8 million [€10m] per-season to sign the experienced Manchester United striker.

This rumour currently making the rounds has however been denied by the Istanbul giants. In an official statement released by Fenerbahce yesterday, the club asked the sports newspaper to pay for the transfer since they claim it is going on.

The statement also noted that the newspaper report was a complete fabrication and should be disregarded by all and sundry.

The statement read:

“Reports published in the Fanatik newspaper under the headline, ‘Fenerbahce on the verge of a historic transfer’ regarding Robin van Persie are a complete fabrication.

“The newspaper is making up rumours, influencing the public and taking them on a transfer merry-go-round. However, if Fanatik really do believe this transfer is going to happen like they claim, we would kindly ask that they fund the move.

A response from Fanatik as per the recently released statement from Fenerbahce is still awaited as per the time of filing this report.

The Turkish giants are said to be truly targeting a striker at the open of the transfer window as they prepare for the upcoming season.

However, with the recent response, it seems like any move for Ibrahimovic is off the cards.

Moussa Sow is expected to return to his parent club on loan, and Fernandao and Emmanuel Emenike are on the transfer list.
