Manchester City star David Silva has admitted that things have got tougher by the day for him with the Premier League holders. The former Spain international has been a regular figure under Pep Guardiola during the ongoing season but he has not enjoyed the consistency of gametime when compared to the previous campaign.
The former Valencia man added that every team requires experienced players within the squad, given they can provide valuable advice to the younger recruits, he added: “When the youngsters that are coming through need advice, when they need to be there, the more experienced players try to be there for them.”
Silva currently has a contract with the Mancunian giants until June 2020 and it has been previously indicated by Pep Guardiola that a contract renewal may be dependent on him. The veteran recently featured for the Citizens during the League Cup final triumph over Chelsea but he was substituted during the second period as he could not influence the proceedings.
The Mancunian giants return to league action with a home game against West Ham United and it will be interesting to see whether Silva gets the nod for the starting XI. Should that not happen, his namesake Bernardo Silva seems likely to take up his position after having excelled under the manager during the current campaign.
