David Ornstein explains one of the factors behind Mesut Ozil’s absence

Football expert David Ornstein has revealed that the GPS data in training is probably one of the factors behind Mesut Ozil’s recent exclusion from first-team action at Arsenal. The 31-year-old has cut a frustrated figure with the Gunners this term with manager Unai Emery reluctant to play him regularly.

Ozil has made just two appearances since the beginning of the campaign and Ornstein has now revealed that the German’s exclusion could be due to the GPS data provided during training sessions, he responded in a Q&A session for The Athletic: “I’m told the GPS data is indeed one of the factors. If Emery and Sanllehi are telling the truth, Özil needs to work hard and with greater consistency. Raul Sanllehi mentioned that Özil has been training well, so I’m keen to see if he’s reintegrated or not.”

Charlie Nicholas fancies Arsenal to make the top four next season

Arsenal legend Charlie Nicholas has backed the Gunners to make the push for the top four after a successful summer of transfer business. The north London giants were expected to struggle in the transfer market with the alleged budget of £45m but they made a few shrewd signings with the means of staggered payments to the respective clubs.

Among those, Nicolas Pepe arrived on a club-record fee of £72m from Lille and Nicholas believes the Gunners could finally break into the Champions League places and finish third even, he said: “The Gunners surprised me with the signing of Nicolas Pepe, they will be very exciting going forward after that. I am glad that Laurent Koscielny has been shipped out, Carl Jenkinson has gone so the ones Arsenal don’t need are going. Is David Luiz better than what Arsenal have? Absolutely. On his day he is world-class. On another day he is an absolutely ridiculous defender. Arsenal are not going to challenge for the title. If Luiz comes in I will applaud it and I think they will finish third.”

Claude Puel heaps praises on Leicester

Claude Puel reckons that technically his team might have got only one point at Brighton, but morally it was a victory for them after the way they turned it around and earned a draw from a not so great position.

Leicester conceded a lead early in the game and then they were reduced to only 10 players in the 28th minute when James Maddison had to go off having been booked twice in a space of just two minutes. It was an incredibly hard challenge for the visitors to not concede any more goals from there, but they not only managed to ensure that, they actually went on to equalize as well. Puel was mighty pleased with that monumental effort.
