BRIGHTON SET TO SPLASH CASH ON CELTIC STRIKER

The transfer of England international defender Ben White from Brighton and Hove Albion to Arsenal may not have been made official yet, but it looks like the Seagulls are already putting plans in place on how to spend his transfer fee. Arsenal, according to widespread reports from a lot of sources, are very close to signing White from Brighton and the reports claim that the transfer could be sealed and delivered as early as this week. The Gunners have been quoted to be interested in sealing the transfer for a reported £50 million – an amount that a lot of fans have claimed is too much for the defender.

White was very impressive in the Premier League for Brighton last season and his strong displays at the heart of the club’s defense saw him earn a call up from England head coach Gareth Southgate to link up with the Three Lions squad ahead of their Euros 2020 campaign. With Arsenal set to let go of Brazilian defender David Luiz this summer, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has set his sights on White and sees him as the ideal central defender to replace the former Chelsea man.

Luiz is reportedly keen to remain in the Premier League but with no offers from the league’s clubs coming in for him, he may well have to try out his career elsewhere. White is seen by many as a massive and much-needed upgrade to Luiz but there are just concerns about the fee Arsenal are being made to pay for his services.

Should the deal be completed, White will be Arsenal’s third signing of the summer and Brighton have been quoted to be keen on splashing part of the £50 million on Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard, who is reportedly ready to make a switch to the English Premier League this summer.
